The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) offers community-based health services for frail and elderly people who qualify for nursing facility placement. PACE provides these services through a comprehensive service delivery system and integrated Medicare and Medicaid financing. PACE providers offer comprehensive care, which include an array of medical, functional and day activity services for a fixed monthly fee that is below the cost of comparable institutional care.
To be eligible for PACE services, a person must:
- be 55 and older;
- have chronic medical problems and functional impairments;
- meet nursing facility medical necessity (MN) criteria;
- reside in a PACE service area; and
- be eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Medicaid under the institutional special income limit.
Currently, there are three PACE sites in Texas:
- Bienvivir Senior Health Services in El Paso
- The Basics at Jan Werner in Amarillo
- Silver Star Health Network in Lubbock
There is no co-payment for the PACE program unless the recipient is admitted to a nursing facility.
